Job Overview: Pharmacy Refill Center Technician
We're seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Pharmacy Refill Center Technician to join our team in Norwood, MA. This role is a unique blend of remote and hybrid work, offering the flexibility to work from home while being an integral part of our pharmacy refill center operations. As a Pharmacy Refill Center Technician, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care by efficiently processing prescription refill requests, collaborating with healthcare providers, and ensuring seamless medication management services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the pharmacy refill center pharmacist with coordinating and processing medication refill requests, ensuring timely and accurate fulfillment.
- Communicate effectively with patients, healthcare providers, and pharmacy staff to facilitate refill requests, address concerns, and provide medication management guidance.
- Perform pharmacy authorization services under established guidelines and scopes of agreement.
- Review and maintain patient medication profiles, enter process prescriptions, and ensure accurate documentation.
- Support clinics and healthcare providers with pharmacy-related requests, including refills, prior authorizations, benefits investigations, and copay assistance.
- Respond to patient inquiries, resolve issues, and provide excellent customer service in a professional and empathetic manner.
- Collaborate with the Medication Renewal Center Supervisor and pharmacy team to identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes.
Essential Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Massachusetts Registered Pharmacy Technician license or Registration as a Pharmacy Technician Trainee required; Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification preferred.
- 1-3 years of related work experience in a pharmacy setting, preferably in an academic medical center or 340B pharmacy environment.
- Understanding of insurance and adjudication processes, with experience working with various payers and pharmacy benefit managers.
- Proficiency in computer systems, including web-based applications and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or Access).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in an academic medical center pharmacy or a 340B pharmacy environment.
- Knowledge of pharmacy operations, including medication therapy management and patient counseling.
