Overview: Assesses, plans, implements, documents, organizes prioritize, delegates, supervises and coordinates the care of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, geriatric as prescribed within parameters of the NC Nurse Practice Act. Responsibilities: The nursing care provided involves using the nursing process to develop, implement and evaluate the nursing plan. There is a collection and analysis of the patient and/or significant others' data through completion of the admission database and ongoing assessments with the collaboration of the patients, significant others, and healthcare providers. The nursing plan is customized based on age-specific needs, and clinical pathways are available where applicable. Adjustments are made to the plan based on variances and effectiveness of interventions. Accurate and up-to-date documentation is done, keeping patients, significant others, and the healthcare team updated. Homecare needs are identified to support discharge planning. The nurse has advanced competencies and critical-thinking skills to handle changes in patient's conditions. Educational needs for patients and/or significant others are identified and addressed effectively. Initiates healthy and curative relationships between the healthcare/nursing team, patients, and significant others. Recognises communication barriers and finds solutions to resolve them effectively. Shows appreciation for diversity and cultural variances in patients/significant other's age, ethnicity, gender, religion, socio-economic status, education level, personality traits, and other unique variables. Creates individualized strategies to meet specific needs of patients/individuals regarding cultural differences and other variables. Advocates for patients and their families, providing a voice for their priorities, concerns, and interests. Demonstrates expertise in adapting response to customer needs that considers situational context. Proficient in accessing electronic systems where policies, procedures, standards, and other vital information are stored. Contributes to activities aimed at promoting quality improvement, evidence-based practices, and research to help achieve departmental objectives and goals. Has a wealth of knowledge on principles pertaining to resource management and identifies areas that can be improved to enhance operations. Encourages giving, receiving, and soliciting constructive feedback. Provides feedback to colleagues and invites mediation when necessary. Qualifications: EDUCATION: Required: • Associates Degree in Nursing (ADN) Preferred: • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) EXPERIENCE: Required: • New RN Graduates: Acceptance into Cone Health New Graduate program or completion of an acute care new graduate program. Preferred: • Experienced RN : One year of Acute Care RN experience is preferred. Hiring leader may consider other RN experience at their discretion. LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:REQUIRED RN | Registered Nurse licensed in North Carolina or a Compact state. BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider PREFERRED The following certifications are preferred and may be required within a certain timeframe of hire as defined by the specific nursing unit.
