About the Role
As Manager, Social Content at FiveThirtyEight, you'll be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive social media strategy that showcases our unique brand of data-driven journalism. This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility and autonomy to work from anywhere. You'll be part of a dynamic team of editors, writers, and producers who are passionate about using data to tell compelling stories.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing Social Accounts: Directly manage all FiveThirtyEight social accounts, including researching, writing, and publishing posts that drive engagement and grow our social following.
 - Distribution Strategy: Develop and execute a distribution strategy to increase our social media presence and drive traffic to our website.
 - Creative Social Campaigns: Design and execute creative social campaigns to support major editorial projects and launches, leveraging our data-driven approach to storytelling.
 - Analytics and Optimization: Monitor the results of our social campaigns and continually improve our efforts based on analytics insights from platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Adobe, and CrowdTangle.
 - Collaboration and Partnerships: Partner with editors and other stakeholders to develop social plans for major projects, and coordinate with social editors at partner organizations to promote FiveThirtyEight coverage.
 - Social Video and Live Content: Develop and execute ideas for social video and live content that showcase our brand's unique voice and perspective.
 - Training and Best Practices: Lead training and dissemination of social media best practices throughout the FiveThirtyEight organization, ensuring that our team is equipped to succeed in a rapidly evolving social media landscape.
 
What We're Looking For
To succeed in this role, you'll need a strong background in social media management, with a minimum of three years' experience in daily management of social media for an editorial organization. You'll also need:
Essential Qualifications
- Social Media Expertise: A proven track record of managing social media accounts and developing strategies to grow engagement and followers.
 - Flexibility and Adaptability: The ability to cover live events and breaking news, and adapt to changing circumstances and priorities.
 - Content Creation: Experience with writing and publishing social-friendly content, including headlines and SEO best practices.
 - Analytics and Data: Expertise in web analytics platforms, including Facebook and Twitter analytics, Adobe, and CrowdTangle.
 - Passion for Data-Driven Journalism: A passion for quantitative journalism, statistics, and data-driven storytelling.
 
Preferred Qualifications
- Editorial or Social Work Experience: 5+ years of experience in editorial or social work, with a proven track record of using social media to expand the reach of a brand.
 - Live Event Coverage: Experience promoting live event coverage, video, and podcasts.
 - Partnerships and Collaborations: Experience establishing partnerships with similar sites and organizations.
