About Rock Region METRO and Our Customer Service Call Center

Rock Region METRO serves the Little Rock metropolitan area, providing reliable and efficient public transportation to thousands of residents and visitors. Our customer service call center is the primary point of contact for our customers, and as a Call Center Representative, you will play a critical role in ensuring that our riders receive the support they need. You will be part of a dynamic team that is committed to delivering excellent customer service, resolving issues, and promoting the use of public transit.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide friendly, knowledgeable, and timely support to customers via inbound calls, addressing their queries and concerns regarding METRO's public transit services.
  • Trip-plan and match appropriate services for transportation needs, checking for active service alerts and ensuring seamless customer experiences.
  • Log and investigate customer requests and concerns, responding to non-rider transit inquiries and forwarding issues to the relevant teams as needed.
  • Troubleshoot problems related to METRO's bus- and streetcar-tracking smartphone app, fare payment smartphone app, and microtransit ride-hailing smartphone app.
  • Operate multiple software platforms to perform daily tasks, ensuring accurate and timely data entry.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, providing clear explanations of METRO's policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate respect for customer diversity, maintaining a polite and professional demeanor in all interactions.
  • Work a rotating on-call schedule to cover unexpected call center staffing shortages.

Essential Qualifications and Skills

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent, combined with one year of customer service experience involving the general public.
  • The ability to quickly learn new software systems and troubleshoot technology-related problems.
  • Excellent verbal communication and listening skills, with the ability to provide clear and concise information to customers.
  • A strong problem-solving mindset, with the ability to analyze issues and provide effective solutions.
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment, processing work rapidly while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
  • A commitment to being a reliable, people-oriented, and inclusive team player who embodies the values of METRO.

Preferred Qualifications

While not essential, the following qualifications are highly desirable:

  • Familiarity with public transit systems and operations.
  • Experience working in a call center or customer service environment.
  • Knowledge of central Arkansas street grid, particularly that of Little Rock, North Little Rock, Conway, Jacksonville, and Sherwood.
