Job Summary

As a Senior Risk Management Analyst, you will be responsible for driving the investigation of and analyzing structured and unstructured data to inform business decisions. You will work closely with technology and other teams to integrate and implement risk management policies and business strategies. Your expertise in data analysis, risk management, and business acumen will enable you to identify and assess new data sources that can add incremental value to American Express' products and services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive the investigation of and analyze structured and unstructured data to inform business decisions
  • Interpret data using statistical, financial, AI, or business intelligence techniques
  • Collaborate with technology and other teams on integration and implementation of risk management policies and business strategies
  • Identify and assess new data sources (controlled and non-directed) that could add incremental value to American Express' products/services
  • Advance the use of industry and internal best practices and incorporate regulatory feedback on a case-by-case basis to drive continuous improvement in risk management strategies and documentation
  • Develop and maintain complex data models and analytics tools to support risk management decisions
  • Communicate complex analysis and insights to technical and non-technical audiences

Requirements

Education:

A graduate degree in Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Econometrics, Business Administration, Operations Research, Engineering, Computer Science, Actuarial Science, or a related field is required.

Experience:

At least 2 years of experience in risk analysis and data analysis to drive business strategy is required. Experience should include:

  • 1 year of experience in interpreting complex analyses for technical and non-technical audiences
  • 1 year of experience in working with technical, scientific, business, and non-technical teams
  • 1 year of experience in process improvement and automation, using advanced algorithms and models, and driving transformational initiatives
  • 1 year of experience in SQL query development, including performance tuning, stored procedure development, and complex query development
  • 1 year of experience in database architectures and data manipulation languages, including SQL and SAS
  • 1 year of experience in organizing and handling subjective and quantitative data to make determinations
  • 1 year of experience in requirements gathering, forecasting, and automation
  • 1 year of experience in Cognos, ETL tools, including SSIS, Python, R, Tableau, Teradata, MS Excel for data reporting and modeling, and Prophet

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Strong business acumen and understanding of risk management principles
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and technologies, including SQL, SAS, and Python
