About the Role
We're seeking an experienced Full Stack Data Center Operations Engineer to join our Hardware Operations team in Maine, USA. As a key member of our team, you'll be responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and deploying the latest physical infrastructure behind Google's powerful search technology. You'll work closely with diverse stakeholders, from engineers to customers, to ensure the smooth operation of our data center infrastructure. This role offers a great introduction to the broader engineering world at Google and provides opportunities for growth and development.
Responsibilities
As a Full Stack Data Center Operations Engineer, you'll contribute to:
* Repairs, upgrades, deployments, and cabling of data center infrastructure
* Identifying trends for equipment failure, documenting bugs, and working with remote teams to resolve them
* Effective communication with customers and partners
* Contributing to projects in deployment and maintenance, and providing support for cutting-edge and new data center infrastructure
* Configuring and troubleshooting Linux OS-related issues on our servers, and resolving critical or escalated technical issues affecting a large population of equipment
Requirements
To succeed in this role, you'll need:
* Currently pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD diploma in Computer Science or a related technical field
* Experience with working on a Network or Linux device
* Fluency in English
* Familiarity with the fundamental standards of Network and Linux systems
* Ability to understand and expand data center architectures, products, device design, operations, maintenance, and procedures
* Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to apply equipment to provide accurate analyses that ensure designs meet security requirements
* Availability to work full-time for at least 6 months outside of college term time
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, having the following qualifications will make you a stronger candidate:
* Experience with data center infrastructure, including servers, storage, and networking equipment
* Knowledge of cloud computing platforms and services
* Familiarity with agile development methodologies and version control systems
* Experience with scripting languages, such as Python or Bash
* Certification in data center operations, such as CompTIA Data Center or VMware VCP
