Job Summary

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in mathematics and data science, including developing new courses and curricula
  • Conduct independent research in applied mathematics and data science, with a focus on developing and applying data-driven mathematical modeling and computation
  • Mentor students, including undergraduate and graduate research projects, and provide academic advising
  • Participate in departmental and university service, including committee work and community outreach
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the UNC campus to develop interdisciplinary research projects and programs

Essential Qualifications

  • A Ph.D. in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, or a closely related field
  • Strong research potential, including a record of publications and presentations
  • Excellent teaching and communication skills, including the ability to teach a diverse range of students
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
