Job Overview

The Inclusion ARI position is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and experienced professional to make a real difference in the lives of students. As a paraprofessional special services specialist, you will work closely with teachers and other support staff to ensure that students receive the guidance and assistance they need to succeed. From participating in lesson planning and leading small group activities to providing individualized support and maintaining accurate records, this role is both challenging and rewarding.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in daily and long-range lesson and classroom activity planning to ensure a comprehensive and engaging learning experience
  • Conduct learning exercises with small groups of children, adapting instruction to meet the diverse needs of students
  • Guide children in working and playing harmoniously with other children, promoting social skills and positive relationships
  • Alert the teacher to special needs of individual children, ensuring that each student receives the support they require
  • Provide escort and assistance to children as necessary, maintaining a safe and secure learning environment
  • Help maintain individual records for each child, tracking progress and identifying areas for improvement
  • Foster good eating habits and table manners in children, promoting healthy lifestyles and social skills
  • Assist the teacher in maintaining neat work and study areas, ensuring a well-organized and productive learning space
  • Assist with the supervision of children during regular play periods, promoting physical activity and socialization
  • Collect and display suitable material for educational displays, showcasing student work and achievements
  • Participate in staff development to be equipped to assist teachers in carrying out district initiatives, staying up-to-date with best practices and research-based strategies

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess a combination of education, experience, and skills. The essential qualifications for this position include:

  • Early Childhood Associate's degree OR Associate's Degree or 60 College Credit Hours AND 12 early childhood college credit hours or completion of an early childhood training program
  • High School Diploma/GED AND Verification of WorkKeys Test AND 12 early childhood college credit hours OR completion of an early childhood training program
  • Certification: Other requirements as specified by the Board of Education
  • CDL, any additional qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable

  • Experience working in an educational setting, particularly with students with diverse needs
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with teachers, students, and parents
