About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Special Education Substitute Teacher to join our team in Loveland, CO. As a SpEd Substitute Teacher, you will have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of students with special needs, while also gaining valuable experience and professional development. Key Responsibilities

• Follow and teach lesson plans provided by the regular teacher, adapting to the needs of students with special needs
• Instruct based on subject and grade-specific curriculum, using a range of teaching strategies to engage students
• Monitor and assess student achievements and outcomes, providing feedback and support to students and staff
• Exercise classroom and behavior management skills, creating a safe and inclusive learning environment
• Share your specialized knowledge to coach staff and support special education students, contributing to the development of individualized education plans (IEPs)

Essential Qualifications

• Active Teaching license with a special education generalist (5-21) and/or special education specialist (5-21) endorsement(s)
• Substitute Authorization (must have or be in the process of obtaining if license is expired)
• Three professional references, including one from a previous direct supervisor
• Completion of a Background Check for Scoot Education (reimbursed on your first paycheck) and the Colorado Department of Education (to receive your Substitute Authorization)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with students with special needs, including autism, mild moderate, severe, and multi-intensive
• Knowledge of trauma-informed teaching, classroom management, and behavior intervention strategies
• Ability to adapt to new situations and challenges, with a flexible and positive attitude
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, staff, and parents
