About the Role

We're seeking an experienced and dynamic leader to join our team as a Manager, Continuing Education. This is an exciting opportunity to drive the development and implementation of interprofessional continuing education (IPCE) programs for healthcare professionals across Advocate Health. As a key member of our team, you'll have the chance to make a significant impact on the quality and patient care through collaborative, high-functioning care teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a team responsible for the development, accreditation, and implementation of IPCE activities, including oversight of work products, delegation of work, performance management, and professional development.
  • Create procedures to ensure all education is developed according to Joint Accreditation (JA) criteria, Standards for Integrity in Continuing Education, and Advocate Health policies.
  • Identify opportunities to advance and improve the IPCE program by implementing best practices in instructional design, promoting inter-professional education, and encouraging innovative learning strategies.
  • Manage decisions on the approval or declination of credit for IPCE activities by applying knowledge of accreditation criteria and policies and providing guidance in complex cases of accreditation.
  • Proactively consult with leadership to identify opportunities to close practice gaps with accredited education; build positive relationships with leaders across the enterprise.
  • Direct evaluation of educational outcomes for each activity and contribute to the overall evaluation of the Advocate Health IPCE program. Report outcomes to key stakeholders and leadership regularly. Create longitudinal dashboards used to make decisions about the overall IPCE program.
  • Support reaccreditation through the successful completion of performance in practice documentation and review of the reaccreditation self-study.
  • Perform leadership responsibilities for staff, including interviewing and selection of new employees, promotions, staff development, performance evaluations, compensation changes, resolution of employee concerns, corrective actions, terminations, and overall employee morale.
  • Manage accreditation through an online learning management system; build new education in the platform and support online reporting to accrediting bodies.

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Education, Health Care Administration, or a related field.
  • 5 years of experience in continuing education, with a preference for experience in healthcare.
  • 2 years of experience in a leadership or managerial capacity, with a preference for experience in a similar field.

Preferred Qualifications

We're looking for candidates with:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of effective best practices and national trends in continuing education.
  • Demonstrated project management skills and the ability to design educational activities incorporating collaboration of multiple stakeholders and cross-functional work teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with all levels of staff, physicians, management, executives, and a wide variety of internal and external accrediting bodies, medical specialty societies, vendors, collaborators, and stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of developing, reviewing, and maintaining budgets and contracts.
  • Interest in or experience in adult education, quality improvement processes, and/or accredited education.
  • Intermediate computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Word) or similar products, and web-based or e-learning systems.
