About the Role
As a Customer Engineer, you will be part of a team of specialist engineers who will be requested by field sales representatives and customer engineers to help customer-facing engagements where specific Google Cloud Platform (GCP) product understanding is needed to advance customer opportunities. Your primary focus will be on introducing Google Cloud to potential and current customers, developing creative cloud solutions, and problem-solving any potential business challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Support local sales teams in pursuit of key business opportunities, engaging clients to address factors of the data lifecycle.
 - Identify business and technical requirements, conduct full technical discovery, and architect customer solutions to fulfill gathered requirements.
 - Lead technical projects, including activities such as technology advocacy, helping bid responses, product and solution briefings, proof-of-concept work, and the coordination of supporting technical resources.
 - Work directly with Google Cloud Platform products to illustrate and prototype integrations in customer/partner environments, traveling for meetings, technical reviews, and onsite delivery activities as needed.
 - Prepare and deliver product messaging that highlights the Google Cloud Platform value proposition, using techniques such as whiteboard and slide shows, product demonstrations, white papers, and request for information (RFI) response documents.
 
Minimum Qualifications
To be considered for this role, you must have:
- A Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
 - At least 3 years of experience as a technical representative, technical pre-sales engineer, company architect, or in a customer-facing position.
 - Experience working with conventional analytic warehouse solutions, big data technologies, real-time streaming, performance, or scalability optimizations.
 
Preferred Qualifications
To stand out as a strong candidate, you should have:
- A Master's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
 - Experience developing data warehousing, data lakes, batch or real-time event processing, and ETL workflow solutions.
 - Knowledge of data and data management as it pertains to big data traits and problems within organizations.
 - Ability to cope with AI/ML and ML operations issues as part of the data analytics platform and lifecycle.
 - Capacity to quickly research, understand, and work with new emerging technologies, methodologies, and solutions within the cloud/IT era area.
