Job Summary
The successful candidate will be expected to teach four courses (12 credit hours) each semester, including Abnormal Psychology, Personality, Introduction to Psychology, and/or special topics in their area of expertise. Preference will be given to candidates with experience teaching online. The Assistant or Associate Professor of Psychology is a full-time, 9-month faculty position that will begin in Fall 2024. The ideal candidate will possess a PhD or PsyD in Psychology with a specialization in clinical or counseling psychology, although other applied areas of psychology will also be considered.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach four courses (12 credit hours) each semester, including Abnormal Psychology, Personality, Introduction to Psychology, and/or special topics in their area of expertise.
- Advise and mentor undergraduate students in research and/or other applied experiences.
- Continue to develop their expertise through research and scholarship.
- Participate in faculty governance and campus life.
- Serve as academic advisors and participate on committees as needed.
- Design courses and create classroom cultures characterized by rigor, inclusiveness, support, and engagement for research-based teaching.
- Support and provide service to the mission, vision, values, and initiatives of the university and colleges.
- Remain current in their discipline and instructional practice through continuous learning and contributions to their field.
Essential Qualifications
A PhD or PsyD in Psychology with a specialization in clinical or counseling psychology (preferred) or other applied areas of psychology. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience teaching online.
- A record of research and scholarship in their area of expertise.
- Evidence of teaching effectiveness.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and be able to communicate effectively with students and colleagues. They will also have strong decision-making and analytical skills, be proficient in current technology, and be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Communication Skills: Ability to verbalize understanding of complex problems or situations, ask relevant questions for clarifications, and explain concepts clearly to others.
- Decision-Making & Analytical Skills: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Technological & Related Skills: Ability to use current technology to enhance effectiveness, including computers, computer-assisted instruction programs, and audio-visual equipment.
