Job Summary
We are looking for a talented and passionate Math Teacher - Long Term Substitute to teach Math 1 and Math 3 courses at Newton North High School. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing engaging mathematics instructional programs, promoting culturally responsive instruction, and fostering a supportive learning environment. This is a long-term substitute position starting in December and continuing through the end of the school year.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement curriculum and instruction that supports school and district-wide goals of culturally responsive instruction and universally designed learning.
 - Prepare and deliver instructional lessons with clear and measurable outcomes, using a wide variety of teaching techniques to support student learning.
 - Provide appropriate and effective learning experiences for students from diverse socio-economic levels and cultural backgrounds.
 - Implement accommodations and curricular modifications as specified in educational plans (IEPs and 504s) and as needed to meet the learning needs of students.
 - Use formal and informal assessments to measure student progress, modify instruction, and implement intervention and support strategies.
 - Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum, lesson, and assessment design, and participate actively in faculty, department, and team meetings.
 - Set professional development goals and plans, and participate in professional development activities that promote reflection and growth.
 - Communicate effectively with students, colleagues, parents, and the community, and use an online learning management system to post important materials and information.
 - Demonstrate consistency, reliability, and punctuality with attendance, and follow safety procedures and written and verbal instructions.
 
Qualifications and Requirements
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics or a closely related field that includes advanced coursework in mathematics.
 - Appropriate DESE teaching license.
 - Excellent oral and written communication skills.
 - Ability to use technology effectively to support student learning.
 - Ability to handle a multitude of varying and complex issues.
 
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Mathematics Education.
 - At least one year of teaching experience in high school mathematics.
