Job Summary

The Meadows Endowed Chair for Excellence in Education is a tenured full professor position in the Department of Teacher Education and Administration within the College of Education. The successful candidate will be a nationally recognized scholar with a strong record of research, teaching, and service. They will be expected to maintain an active research agenda, secure external funding, teach and mentor students, and collaborate with others to achieve the academic goals of the university, college, and department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain an active research agenda of national importance, focusing on areas such as language and literacy studies, STEM/STEAM education, educational leadership and policy, or teacher education.
  • Develop and secure externally funded support for programs and projects that align with the department's and college's goals.
  • Teach and mentor undergraduate and graduate students, developing courses that incorporate new technologies to support just, equitable, and inclusive education.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff across the university to develop interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary partnerships and research initiatives.
  • Participate in department, college, and university service, contributing to the academic mission and goals of the institution.

Qualifications and Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • A doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction, Teacher Education, Educational Equity, Learning Sciences, Early Childhood Education, Educational Leadership and Policy, or a related area.
  • Qualification for the rank of full professor with tenure.
  • A strong and sustained record of research with an identified scholarly focus.
  • A record of success in securing external funding for research.
  • A clear agenda for substantive work in the future.
  • Teaching experience using multiple technologies and the ability to develop courses for online instruction.
  • Teaching experience in public schools and/or other educational settings.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least three years of teaching experience in EC-12 settings.
  • Experience working in HSI/MSIs and/or speaking multiple languages, including Spanish, Vietnamese, American Sign Language, Chinese, Arabic, Tagalog, Farsi, French, or Yoruba.
