About the Role: Data Engineer for Netflix Game Development
We're seeking a talented Data Engineer to join our Data Science and Engineering (DSE) team, focused on using data, analytics, and science to drive business success. As a Data Engineer in our Game DSE team, you'll play a critical role in supporting key channels for determining individual game and overall game portfolio performance. You'll work closely with our Game Studio stakeholders to understand the types of data to be collected and collaborate with our Game Development teams to collect telemetry from specific games.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create efficient, customizable, and scalable data pipelines for processing structured and unstructured data.
- Develop a deep understanding of emerging domains in the Netflix Game ecosystem.
- Collaborate with Game Studio leads to develop cutting-edge game metrics (retention, etc.) and partner with Netflix's internal Game Studios to bring relevant metrics and game data into the Netflix ecosystem.
- Work with the Netflix SDK Team and Netflix's third-party gaming partners to obtain data through the Netflix Games SDK.
- Join a unique team of Data Engineers with diverse skill sets who work closely with Analytical Engineering and Data Science counterparts.
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Computer Science, Engineering, etc.).
- Strong knowledge of at least one programming language (Java, Python, or Scala) with at least 2 years of software/data engineering experience.
- Advanced SQL skills and experience engineering data pipelines using big data technologies (Hive, Presto, Spark, Flink) on medium to large data sets.
- Conceptual knowledge of AWS Cloud Resources (S3, EC2, RDS, etc.).
- Excellent requirements elicitation and implementation skills for scalable data models and pipelines.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a passion for creating intuitive data products.
- Strong data intuition and a shared passion for continuously improving the Netflix Game experience.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to drive business outcomes.
