Job Summary

As a Patient Access Specialty Scheduler, you will be responsible for scheduling patient appointments, obtaining and verifying demographic and insurance information, and registering patients in our scheduling system. This role requires excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills, as well as the ability to work in a fast-paced, call center-type environment. Key Responsibilities:

  • Schedule patient appointments for diagnostic, surgical, therapy, physician office visits, and other procedures/treatments
  • Obtain and verify necessary demographic and insurance information
  • Register patients and enter data into our scheduling system
  • Meet individual quality metrics and productivity standards
  • Provide professional, compassionate, and friendly service to patients, families, employees, physicians, and community members
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date knowledge of regulatory guidelines, including HIPAA, AHCA, EMTALA, and Medicare coverage structure

Qualifications:

Education:

  • High school diploma, certificate, GED, or equivalent required

Additional Qualifications:

  • Complete and pass the Patient Access training course
  • Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced work environment
  • Basic mathematical calculations and detail-oriented skills
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills
  • Desired: Basic knowledge of medical and insurance terminology
  • Experience with computer applications, including Microsoft Office and EMR systems
  • Accurate typing skills and bilingual (English, Spanish/Creole) skills a plus

Experience:

  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in patient access, scheduling, or a related field
  • Operating Room, Cardiology, CATH, or IR scheduling experience highly preferred
