Position Summary

As a Quality Engineer - Technical Customer Service, you will report to our Quality Manager and represent Fritz Winter North America at our U.S. customers, supporting our Quality Assurance function. You will be responsible for providing technical support to customers, conducting complex trials and new product runs, and ensuring exceptional customer quality satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Customer Support: Provide technical support to customers regarding raw and finished parts, prototypes, and serial parts, in consultation with the head of Quality Assurance.
  • Complex Trials and New Product Runs: Support complex trials and new product runs at customer sites, including documentation of results and presentation of initial sample parts.
  • Quality Concerns: Analyze quality concerns utilizing disciplined problem-solving techniques to identify true root causes and initiate corrective actions in cooperation with Quality Assurance.
  • Communication: Ensure smooth and timely exchange of information between Fritz Winter and customers based on customer requirements.
  • Third-Party Activities: Coordinate and oversee third-party activities, such as sorting and rework activities.
  • Projects: Collaborate and lead projects in accordance with applicable Fritz Winter guidelines.
  • Voice of the Customer: Serve as the Voice of the Customer to Fritz Winter operations, ensuring exceptional customer quality satisfaction.
  • Training and Development: Organize, plan, conduct, and document worker-training courses according to customer requirements.
  • Statistics and Reporting: Compile monthly statistics regarding customer complaints, scrap, and rework.

Requirements and Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree: BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field of experience.
  • Automotive Manufacturing Experience: Automotive manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Quality Assurance Experience: 5 years of Quality Assurance experience.

Skills and Competencies

  • Travel: Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (75%).
  • Technical Skills: Experience with iron castings and machining processes preferred.
  • Communication: Excellent organizational, oral, and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Computer Skills: Experience using MS Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Language Skills: Fluency in German and Spanish a plus.

Physical Requirements

  • Physical Demands: Normal duties will include periods of sitting, standing, walking, and some reaching and lifting.
  • Vision Requirements: Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
