Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Relief Call Center Dietetic Assistant to join our team. As a Relief Call Center Dietetic Assistant, you will be responsible for receiving phone calls from hospital patients and their families, taking orders and answering questions about menu items available for ordering and delivery to their rooms. You will also be responsible for entering orders into a computerized food service system, in accordance with established call/service center standards, available menu items, and dietary restrictions. Key Responsibilities

  • Receive phone calls from hospital patients and their families, taking orders and answering questions about menu items available for ordering and delivery to their rooms.
  • Enter orders into a computerized food service system, in accordance with established call/service center standards, available menu items, and dietary restrictions.
  • Provide exemplary service and customer care to patients and their families.
  • Work collaboratively with the Food Services Department to ensure that patients receive high-quality food and nutrition support.
  • Participate in ongoing training and education to stay up-to-date on menu items, dietary restrictions, and food service policies and procedures.
  • Work effectively in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple phone calls and orders simultaneously.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with patients, families, and healthcare staff to ensure that patient needs are met.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all applicable regulatory requirements, department procedures, and Stanford Health Care policies.

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • One (1) or more years of customer service, food service, and/or call-center experience.
  • A practical knowledge of nutrition and medical terminology is desirable.
  • Basic computer skills and the ability to quickly learn and become proficient in the use of menu ordering software.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills, with the ability to provide outstanding service at all times.
  • The ability to learn and work within established standards, policies, and procedures affecting assigned work.
  • The ability to read and write, and follow oral and written instructions.
  • The ability to answer telephones courteously and communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing.
  • The ability to maintain confidentiality and abide by all acceptable standards in safeguarding information to respect and protect patient privacy.

Preferred Qualifications

We are looking for candidates who possess:

  • Experience working in a healthcare setting, preferably in a food service or nutrition support role.
  • Knowledge of menu planning, nutrition, and food safety principles.
  • Strong problem-solving and negotiation skills to work with patients in selecting meals that meet the guidelines of their diet order.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and contribute to a positive and supportive team culture.
