Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain robust and scalable data pipelines for ingesting, transforming, and storing large volumes of data to support marketing on Walmart.com and its subsidiaries.
  • Develop and deploy large-scale, containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes on public clouds like Google GCP and Microsoft Azure.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including scrum teams, QA, Product, Program Management, and Partner Operations, to ensure seamless integration and delivery of solutions.
  • Participate in 24/7 on-call rotations to troubleshoot production issues across cross-functional teams.
  • Work on cloud platforms like Azure and Google Cloud for data storage, processing, and analysis.
  • Develop and maintain data models for efficient storage and retrieval of large datasets.
  • Ensure data quality, availability, and reliability for analysis and reporting.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated expertise in data engineering concepts, database design, ETL processes, and data mining.
  • Proficiency in working with data technologies, including SQL, Python, Java, Scala, Hadoop, and related tools and technologies.
  • Experience with ETL tools like Apache NiFi.
  • Strong skills working with relational databases (e.g., Azure SQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., Cassandra).
  • Experience with real-time message processing using Apache Kafka.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to present to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with Distributed Computing Services like Google GCP and Microsoft Azure, as well as Distributed Storage Systems like Hive and Spark.
  • Experience with cloud-based data warehousing solutions.
  • Knowledge of data governance and data quality best practices.
