Director Athletic Adventures

Summary: As part of a mission centric, locally delivered and nationally powered organization
this role is accountable for planning and execution of all Athletics Adventure events including
Shred for Red, Hike and Climb2Cure.
Supervises: Athletics Managers (Adventure)
Leads: Participants & Committees
• Goals: Revenue
• Geography: Nationwide (If applicable, assigned to specific event)
• Internal Partners: CORS, Region EDs, Region CDD’s, Business Development, Advancement, CE
• External Relationships: High level participants across nation, recruitment/management of committees if applicable, Sponsor prospect recruitment and stewardship
• Revenue Accountability: All Athletics (Adventure, Run/Walk and Cycle) with a focus on Adventure events.
• Strategic Accountability: Implement/Execute revenue strategies (Adventure). Product expert on Adventure events. Thought partnership with Athletics Directors.
• Sponsorship: Actively selling Athletics sponsorships (Accountable to Adventure)
Mission Integration
• Partner with Education Services and Health Research department to effectively communicate the LLS overall mission, programs, resources and priorities.
• Responsible for organizing mission centered, local donor cultivation events and prospecting high-impact donors for stewardship activities.
Staff Leadership & Development
• Partner with peer team to create and implement an innovative strategic plan annually and revise periodically to ensure team exceeds all revenue goals.
• Teach, train, consult and lead fundraising staff in recruiting and cultivating participants.
• Responsible for the hiring, management, development & training of the peer-to-peer fundraising teams.
• Example of management activities:
◦ Conduct 1:1 coaching virtually and in person with regular visits with manager to conduct virtual/ ride-along visits.
▪ Travel 10-20%
• Coaching and management to established KPIs and goals set forth in conjunction with leadership.
• Hands on partner and trusted advisor to direct reports and Senior Director.
Participant Leadership & Development
• Collaborate to grow participant and corporate relationships for the designated event.
• Recruit, teach, train and inspire philanthropists as they engage through designated events.
• Responsible for the recruitment & cultivation of high-level participant leadership. If applicable, recruit and cultivate volunteer leaders. Manage committee meetings and committee impact.
• Provide comprehensive participant support to ensure positive participant interaction.
Leader in High Impact Fundraising
• Accountable for achieving high-impact peer-to-peer fundraising revenue goals in each event.
• Responsible for selling, retaining & upgrading sponsorship for all designated events.
• Leading team to determined fundraising revenue goals for each event.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education & Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree
5-7 years of experience

Physical Demands & Work Environment:
• Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends to support volunteer committees and events, especially during peak event season (spring and summer).
• Physical demands are minimal and typical of similar jobs in comparable organizations.
• Work environment is representative and typical of similar jobs in comparable organizations.
• May be required to move Campaign materials weighing up to 15 pounds for various events.
• Occasional travel to LLS Athletic Events

We are excited to share the base pay range for this position is $88,000 to $117,000. The offered compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, business need, market conditions, proficiencies, skills, education, and experience. Additionally, at LLS we place a high value on internal pay equity and will consider the current compensation of similarly situated roles and direct team members. Base compensation is only one component of our Total Rewards program, which also includes an annual incentive plan and a competitive benefits package.
