The Credit Risk Oversight Team: Driving Business Success through Risk Management
The Credit Risk Oversight team within Global Risk & Compliance is responsible for reviewing the credit process in commercial lending portfolios at American Express. As a Senior Analyst, you'll be part of this team, working closely with Business Unit Risk teams to enhance decision processes, address major credit issues, and drive business growth.
Key Responsibilities: Leading Credit Risk Oversight and Driving Business Growth
- Conduct independent portfolio monitoring and credit risk assessments to identify potential risks and opportunities
 - Develop and maintain automated monitoring rules to ensure effective risk management
 - Review credit risk processes to ensure they are aligned with industry best practices and regulatory requirements
 - Collaborate with Business Unit Risk teams to enhance decision processes and address major credit issues
 - Analyze trends in the charge and lending portfolios and conduct deep dive analysis to understand key drivers
 - Support the development of next-generation risk capabilities, such as Smart Monitoring
 - Produce credit risk dashboards for AXP Risk Committees, including tracking risk appetite metrics
 
Qualifications: The Ideal Candidate
To be successful in this role, you'll need:
- 2+ years of credit experience in Banking, Credit Risk Management, or review experience
 - Knowledge of financial statement analysis, including an understanding of key financial ratios and the ability to form independent opinions on credit and recognize emerging risks
 - Familiarity with banking regulations, particularly those imposed by OCC and Federal Reserve
 - Knowledge of macroeconomic trends and their impact on borrower repayment
 - Analytical skills and business acumen with a risk-reward control perspective
 - Experience with data-driven analytical tools, such as SQL, SAS, HIVE/HADOOP, R, or Python (a plus)
 - Ability to clearly communicate findings to credit risk peers, business partners, and senior leaders
 - Demonstrated courage to challenge the status quo and ability to successfully manage multiple priorities under pressure
 - Proven ability to collaborate with colleagues across the Company
 - Self-starter with natural curiosity to solve problems
 - Bachelor's degree with a degree (or substantial coursework) in finance, accounting, economics, or statistics

Compensation and Benefits: Competitive and Comprehensive
We offer a competitive salary range of $55,000 to $105,000 annually, plus bonus and benefits, including:
