Key Responsibilities: Driving Impact as a Senior Healthcare Economist

As a Senior Healthcare Economist at The Lewin Group, you will play a pivotal role in conducting rigorous empirical research on current policy issues surrounding healthcare reform. Your work will directly contribute to informing policy decisions and improving healthcare outcomes. Key responsibilities include:

  • Successfully managing all aspects of small to medium-sized projects or project components, including technical direction, financial management, staff supervision, and client relations.
  • Designing and conducting studies that require advanced empirical methods or mixed quantitative and qualitative evaluation methods.
  • Supervising research staff to ensure the application of sound analytic methods across projects.
  • Overseeing the production of client-ready deliverables, ensuring high-quality outputs that meet client needs.
  • Authoring research reports, interpreting findings, and presenting results to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Making substantial contributions to technical proposal writing, leveraging your expertise to secure new opportunities.
  • Serving as a resource to colleagues on methodological or healthcare policy issues, sharing your knowledge and expertise.

Qualifications: The Ideal Candidate

To excel in this role, you should possess a strong background in healthcare economics and a proven track record of applying advanced empirical methods to real-world problems. The ideal candidate will have:

Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the analysis of healthcare data.
  • Demonstrated mastery of applied microeconomics, labor economics, applied econometrics, health policy, and program evaluation.
  • Experience in designing research studies and developing research reports and/or publications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Advanced understanding of Medicare payment policy and its implications.
  • Experience in designing and implementing research projects focused on health equity.
  • A track record of peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations.
  • Familiarity with Medicare FFS data and payment policies.
