About the Role

We're seeking a highly talented Software Developer/System Administrator to play a key role in designing, coding, testing, debugging, and documenting software applications in a variety of programming languages. As a Software Developer/System Administrator at VetsEZ, you'll be responsible for a wide range of tasks, from creating strategies for IT system development to troubleshooting issues with Cache/Ensemble/IRIS applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop IT Strategies: Create comprehensive strategies for developing IT systems and applications that meet the evolving needs of our organization.
  • Design and Development: Design, develop, and update Cache/Ensemble/IRIS applications, ensuring they are scalable, efficient, and meet the required standards.
  • Database Management: Demonstrate knowledge of database compatibility between different versions and manage large-scale databases, ensuring data integrity and optimal performance.
  • Cloud Migration: Lead the migration of legacy applications from on-premise environments to the cloud, leveraging your expertise in cloud-based solutions.
  • Research and Recommendation: Research and recommend approved VA COTS (Custom Off-The-Shelf) solutions, staying up-to-date with the latest technologies and trends.
  • Database Administration: Utilize your experience as a Cache and IRIS database DBA, including connectivity (ODBC) and integration with other systems, to ensure seamless data exchange.
  • Interface Protocols: Work with interface protocols such as REST and SOAP, ensuring efficient data exchange between different systems.
  • DevOps and Modern Tools: Demonstrate knowledge and use of modern software development and DevOps tools, including GitHub and implementation of a DevOps pipeline in a cloud environment.

Essential Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, or another relevant technical discipline.
  • At least 5 years of experience in software development, with a strong background in programming languages and software development methodologies.
  • Hands-on experience with Cache/Ensemble/IRIS, including Intersystems USR, IRIS, Objectscript, and XSLT Development.
  • Experience with migrating from older Intersystems Healthshare systems to newer ones, ensuring minimal disruption to critical services.
  • Strong database design knowledge, with the ability to design and implement efficient data models.
  • Proficiency in modern software development and DevOps tools, including GitHub and DevOps pipelines in cloud environments.

Preferred Qualifications

While not essential, the following qualifications will be considered a plus:

  • Experience working in the VA (Department of Veterans Affairs) or other health-related organizations, understanding the unique challenges and requirements of these sectors.
  • Familiarity with Community Care products and COTS products used by them, such as DAPER, TeleForm, MOVEit, ODM, and RightFax.
  • Knowledge of ePASS and NMEA, with the ability to integrate these systems into our solutions.
  • Experience with SAFe, Jira, and ServiceNow, leveraging these tools to streamline our development processes and improve service delivery.
  • The ability to obtain a government clearance, demonstrating your commitment to working in a secure and compliant environment.
