Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Staff Platform Engineer - SRE/DevOps to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in designing, implementing, and managing scalable cloud infrastructure, particularly in AWS environments, with a focus on security, reliability, and efficiency. This role is critical to our mission, as it will involve working closely with our engineering teams to ensure our platform is robust, secure, and capable of handling the demands of our growing customer base.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and Implementation: Lead the design and implementation of scalable, secure, and efficient cloud infrastructure on AWS, ensuring high availability and performance.
  • Automation and Management: Utilize Terraform for infrastructure automation and manage configurations for databases such as Postgres on RDS, ensuring consistency and reliability across our platform.
  • Observability and Monitoring: Implement and manage observability tools like DataDog and NewRelic to monitor performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimize our infrastructure for better efficiency and security.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with multiple teams, including development, security, and operations, to ensure seamless integration of our platform engineering efforts with overall business objectives.
  • Security and Compliance: Ensure all infrastructure and applications are designed and implemented with security best practices, adhering to compliance standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Leadership and Mentorship: Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers, helping to develop their skills and expertise in cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity, and DevOps practices.

Requirements and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • 7+ Years of Experience: In designing, implementing, and managing autoscaling application architectures in AWS cloud environments, with a deep understanding of cloud security, scalability, and performance optimization.
  • Linux-Based Infrastructure Experience: 7+ years of experience working with Linux-based infrastructure, including configuration, management, and troubleshooting.
  • High Coding Proficiency: In languages such as Ruby, Go, and/or Python, with the ability to develop scripts and tools to automate tasks and improve efficiency.
  • Automation and Infrastructure as Code: Experience with Terraform or similar tools for infrastructure automation and management.
  • Database Management: Experience with configuration and infrastructure management for databases such as Postgres on RDS.
  • Observability Tools: Familiarity with observability tools like DataDog, NewRelic, etc., for monitoring and optimizing infrastructure and application performance.
  • Effective Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a remote team environment and coordinate between multiple stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications: AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer) or similar cloud platform certifications.
  • Security Expertise: Deep understanding of security principles, compliance frameworks, and experience with security tools and technologies.
  • DevOps Practices: Experience with Agile development methodologies, Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, and DevOps tools such as Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes, etc.
