Job Summary and Responsibilities
We are seeking a qualified candidate to fill a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the Social Work program. The successful candidate will:
- Teach 12 credit hours per semester across the BSW curriculum, including a variety of courses suited to their experience and expertise
- Serve as an academic advisor and professional mentor for students
- Engage in research, scholarly, or creative activities that contribute to the field of social work
- Actively participate in committee work, curriculum development, professional development, and service to external stakeholders
- Recruit for the social work program in the region
Requirements and Qualifications
Essential Qualifications:
- Master's in Social Work from a CSWE-accredited program (Doctorate degree required; ABDs with a documented plan of completion by appointment date will be considered)
- Eligibility for Social Work licensure at a graduate level
- Demonstrated teaching experience in higher education
- Flexibility to teach all courses in the BSW curriculum and utilize different teaching methods (traditional, hybrid, online, etc.)
- Demonstrated awareness of and sensitivity to diverse populations and ability to contribute to the department and the university's commitments to inclusivity, equity, and social justice
Preferred Qualifications:
- PhD in Social Work
- At least two years post-MSW full-time experience in professional social work practice
- Post-MSW practice experience with individuals, children and families, mental health, substance abuse, or other micro systems settings
- Demonstrated ability teaching BSW students with a variety of learner-focused methodologies, reflecting high-impact teaching practices
- Utilization of technology that enhances teaching and learning
