Job Summary

As the Worksite Wellness Facility Director, you will be responsible for directing efforts to increase member engagement, help members reach their health goals, and support relationship building through program development and oversight for the corporate facility as part of the Downtown YMCA. You will work closely with the Downtown Executive Director and CAO to implement ongoing tactics to engage new and returning members, support each in their health and wellness goals through innovative programs and services, and build relationships with the employer (Norton) and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Uphold the mission of the YMCA and demonstrate behaviors that reflect a determined, nurturing, genuine, hopeful, and welcoming nature.
  • Serve as a role model and advocate of the YMCA Mission, Promise, Values, and Voice.
  • Grow the current membership base from 300 to over 400 memberships.
  • Implement health and wellness strategies that support the engagement and retention of existing members.
  • Attend new hire orientations offered by the company to actively recruit new members to the wellness facility.
  • Create a member-focused culture and model relationship-building skills in all interactions.
  • Foster a climate of innovation and resolve problems to ensure member satisfaction.
  • Recruit, hire, train, develop, schedule, and direct staff and volunteers as needed.
  • Review and evaluate staff performance.
  • Teach classes and develop small group and 1-on-1 personal training programs.
  • Develop member incentive programs and challenges, as well as educational opportunities to encourage usage and participation at the facility.
  • Develop and direct high-quality wellness programs and services and member engagement initiatives that support branch and association mission, goals, and strategies.
  • Develop, manage, and monitor the facility operating budget and meet or exceed budget targets.
  • Take a leadership role in the Annual Giving Campaign and ongoing volunteer and donor cultivation.
  • Participate in staff meetings and/or related meetings.

Requirements and Qualifications

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or commensurate work experience in health/wellness preferred.
  • Major accredited fitness certification from a reputable organization such as ACSM, NSCA, or ACE.
  • Proven skills in the health and wellness field, financial development, fiscal management, program development, volunteer development, and community partnerships.
  • Ability to nurture a high-performing team of staff and volunteers focused on relationship-building and member involvement.
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Strong leadership and excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to set the standards for and model exceptional member service and build a culture of member involvement and engagement in all staff.
  • A positive, can-do attitude and the ability to work creatively and independently or as part of a team.
  • Sound judgment and decision-making as well as problem-solving and interpersonal skills to relate to people of all socio-economic levels and diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to provide facility tours, travel locally to meetings, and stand for many hours at a time.
  • Proven competencies in connecting with an economically, socially, and culturally diverse membership.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A strong, experienced background in group fitness classes with Trainer Level or Instructor Level certifications in multiple disciplines.
  • The ability to teach classes, train instructors, and lead staff groups.
