About the Role
We're looking for a Connecticut-licensed Special Education Teacher to support students across various grade levels (K-12) through the remainder of the 2024-2025 school year. As a remote, full-time Special Education Teacher, you'll play a vital role in shaping the educational journey of students with diverse needs, including those with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and behavioral challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, student-centered special education services to students in grades K-12, ensuring compliance with individualized education plans (IEPs) and Connecticut state standards.
- Develop and implement engaging, tailored lesson plans that cater to the unique needs and abilities of each student, leveraging Orton-Gillingham methods and other evidence-based practices.
- Conduct virtual sessions with students, utilizing VocoVision's educational platform and materials to deliver direct and indirect services.
- Monitor student progress, adjust instruction accordingly, and maintain accurate records of student performance and IEP progress.
- Collaborate with our clinical team and other educators to ensure a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
- Participate in ongoing professional development to stay updated on best practices in special education and technology integration.
Essential Qualifications
- Connecticut Special Education Certification: You must hold an active special education license in both your home state and Connecticut.
- Teaching Experience: At least 2 years of classroom experience, preferably working with students with ASD and behavioral challenges.
- Technical Requirements: Reliable computer with high-speed internet access, and proficiency in using digital tools and platforms (training provided).
- Liability Insurance: As an independent contractor, you'll be required to have liability insurance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Orton-Gillingham Certification: While not mandatory, having an Orton-Gillingham certification is highly desirable.
- Experience with Diverse Learners: A background in working with students with a range of abilities and needs is a significant plus.
