About Our Organization and the Role

As a Remote Special Education Teacher with our organization, you'll be part of a dynamic team that includes a School Psychologist and 5 Special Education Paraprofessionals, working together to provide comprehensive support to our students.
Our ideal candidate is a certified Special Education Teacher with a passion for working with students with mild to moderate special needs. As a Remote Special Education Teacher, you'll be responsible for developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for our K-3 students, facilitating IEP meetings, and providing virtual support to ensure our students thrive academically and socially.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and Implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs): Create tailored learning plans that cater to the unique needs and goals of each student, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Facilitate and Lead IEP Meetings: Collaborate with parents, teachers, and other stakeholders to develop and implement effective IEPs, ensuring a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
- Provide Virtual Service Minutes: Deliver high-quality virtual instruction and support to students, meeting the required service minutes and ensuring continuity of learning.
- Collaborate with the Special Education Team: Work closely with our School Psychologist and Special Education Paraprofessionals to share best practices, coordinate student support, and drive student progress.
- Maintain Accurate Records and Reports: Ensure timely and accurate documentation of student progress, IEP meetings, and other relevant records.
Essential Qualifications and Skills
To excel in this role, you'll need:
- Teaching Certification: A valid teaching certification in Special Education, with a focus on mild to moderate special needs.
- Experience: A minimum of 2 years of experience working with students with special needs, preferably in a virtual or online setting.
- IEP Development and Implementation: Proven expertise in developing and implementing IEPs, with a strong understanding of regulatory requirements.
- Collaboration and Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with parents, teachers, and other stakeholders.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in virtual learning platforms, educational software, and other digital tools used in online education.
Preferred Qualifications
While not mandatory, the following qualifications can enhance your application:
- Experience with Virtual Education: Previous experience working in a virtual or online educational setting, with a strong understanding of online pedagogy and best practices.
- Specialized Training: Additional training or certifications in special education, such as autism, ADHD, or learning disabilities.
- Bilingual or Multilingual: Proficiency in multiple languages, which can be an asset in supporting students with diverse linguistic backgrounds.
