Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with subject matter experts from airlines to identify opportunities for leveraging data to deliver insights and actionable predictions of customer behavior and operations performance.
  • Assess the effectiveness and accuracy of new data sources, data gathering, and forecasting techniques, ensuring that our solutions remain at the cutting edge.
  • Develop custom data models and algorithms to apply to complex data sets, running proof of concept studies to validate your hypotheses.
  • Leverage existing statistical and machine learning tools to enhance our in-house algorithms, driving continuous improvement.
  • Work closely with software engineers to implement and test production-quality code for forecasting and data analytics models, ensuring seamless integration.
  • Develop and maintain processes and tools to monitor and analyze data accuracy and model performance, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Demonstrate our software solutions to customers, performing value-proving benchmarks and calibrating our software to meet customer needs.
  • Train customers on the use and maintenance of our software, ensuring they derive maximum value from our solutions.
  • Respond to customer complaints and suggestions, driving continuous improvement in our offerings.

Essential Qualifications and Skills

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • An advanced degree in Statistics, Operations Research, Computer Science, Mathematics, or Machine Learning, demonstrating a strong foundation in data science.
  • A proven ability to apply modeling and analytical skills to real-world problems, with a track record of delivering impactful results.
  • Knowledge of machine learning techniques (clustering, decision tree learning, artificial neural networks, etc.) and statistical concepts (regression, properties of distributions, statistical tests, etc.), with the ability to apply these to complex data sets.
  • Solid programming skills in 2-3 languages out of R, SQL, Python, TensorFlow, PySpark, Java, JavaScript, or C++, with a preference for Python and C++.
  • Graduate school-level knowledge of Revenue Management models and algorithms, with experience in the airline industry.
  • Experience with deploying machine learning and statistical models on a cloud platform (minimum 4 out of 7 years), with a preference for Google Cloud Platform.
  • Experience with MLOps within the enterprise CI/CD process for ML models (2 years), and deploying ML APIs in production environments using GKE (2 years).
  • Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform Vertex AI for ML and BigQuery (1 year), Terraform and Containers technologies (2 years), and experience writing data processing jobs using Google Cloud Platform Dataflow and Dataproc (2 years).
  • Understanding of machine learning concepts to scale ML across different services by leveraging Feature Store, Artifacts Registry, and Analytics Hub (1 year).

Preferred Qualifications

While not essential, experience with Rally and JIRA is considered a plus, as is a background in working with airline distribution, pricing, revenue management, NDC, and Offer/Order Management concepts.
