Job Summary and Key Responsibilities
As an EL Paraprofessional (Secondary) 9, you will be responsible for providing instructional support to students in a secondary setting. Your primary duties will include:
- Academic support: Provide targeted support to students in core instruction, including assisting with lesson plans, delivering instruction, and monitoring progress.
- Communication and collaboration: Work closely with regular teaching staff to support core instruction, communicate with families, and participate in after-school tutoring when applicable.
- Instructional support: Assist with instructional activities, including preparing materials, setting up equipment, and providing individualized support to students.
- Record keeping and confidentiality: Maintain accurate records, maintain confidentiality, and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Technology integration: Use technology to support instruction, including educational software, online resources, and digital tools.
Requirements and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
Essential Qualifications:
- Associates Degree in Education or Parapro Praxis Certificate and High School Diploma: We're looking for candidates with a strong educational background or equivalent experience.
- Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate (desired): A teaching certificate is preferred, but not required.
- Bilingual (desired): Proficiency in multiple languages is an asset, but not required.
