Job Summary
We are seeking a full-time, 36-week, limited-term, multi-year (3-year) appointment as a Lecturer (master level) or Assistant Teaching Professor (doctoral level) in Biology, beginning August 2024 or as negotiated. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching a range of courses in biology, including microbiology, cell/molecular biology, nutrition, anatomy and physiology, and general biology, using traditional, hybrid, and online delivery methods. The position also involves participating in course, curriculum, and program development, advising students, and engaging in scholarship to stay current in the discipline.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach courses in biology, including microbiology, cell/molecular biology, nutrition, anatomy and physiology, and general biology, using a range of traditional, hybrid, and online delivery methods.
 - Participate in course, curriculum, and program development to ensure that our academic programs remain relevant and effective.
 - Advise students and provide career guidance to help them achieve their academic and professional goals.
 - Engage in scholarship to stay current in the discipline and contribute to the advancement of knowledge in biology.
 - Participate in campus, university, and community service activities to foster a sense of community and promote our institution's mission.
 - Some duties may require teaching day, evening, and/or Saturday classes or attending occasional weekend events, as needed.
 
Qualifications
Essential Qualifications
- A Master's degree in Biological Sciences (e.g., Biology, Zoology, Molecular Biology, Ecology, Genetics, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Botany) for Lecturer, or a Doctoral degree in Biological Sciences for Assistant Teaching Professor.
 - Commitment to high-quality instruction in a student-centered environment.
 - Interest in active and collaborative learning, instructional use of technology, and hybrid and online teaching.
 
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior college-level and online teaching experience.
 - Experience teaching microbiology, cell/molecular biology, and/or nutrition.
 - Ability to engage professionally with a diverse population of faculty, staff, and students.
