We are seeking a passionate and experienced Pre-K Teacher to join our team in Pinellas Park, FL. As a Teacher I, you will play a vital role in shaping the educational and personal growth of pre-school aged children in our Head Start/Early Head Start Program.
About the Role
As a Pre-K Teacher at LSF, you will be responsible for planning and implementing engaging educational activities that foster a love of learning in young children. You will work closely with our team to create a nurturing environment that promotes social, emotional, and cognitive development. Your expertise and dedication will help our children achieve kindergarten readiness and set them up for future success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement daily lesson plans that cater to the diverse needs of pre-school aged children or infants/toddlers.
- Create a well-organized classroom environment that promotes effective learning and play.
- Conduct assessments and screenings to identify developmental/educational needs and create individualized education plans.
- Ensure a safe and healthy environment for children during meal and snack periods, classroom activities, and playground time.
- Maintain accurate records of children's progress, complete required reports, and communicate effectively with parents and colleagues.
- Collaborate with parents through parent conferences, written correspondence, and telephone updates.
- Conduct health checks and report any health concerns to the Health Coordinator.
- Plan and coordinate field trips, classroom activities, and parent volunteer opportunities.
- Order supplies and equipment for special needs children and assist with transportation as needed.
- Perform First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) as required.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education:
- Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
Experience:
- Two years of experience teaching Head Start, Early Head Start, pre-school, or kindergarten age children.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bilingual skills in English/Spanish or English and other languages present in the local area.
Essential Skills and Competencies:
- Working knowledge of brain development and its impact on early learning.
- Understanding of child development from birth to age five for typical and atypical children.
- Familiarity with culture and practices for early childhood education.
- Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices for early childhood.
- Understanding of behavior modification theories and practices relating to early childhood development.
- Effective verbal communication skills with infants, toddlers, and pre-school age children.
- Ability to plan, organize, and supervise the work of others.
- Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
