Key Responsibilities:
- Provide instructional support to students with special needs, working closely with teachers to implement individualized lesson plans and activities.
- Assist in the development and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs), and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs).
- Monitor and assess student progress, providing feedback to teachers and other support staff to inform instruction and drive student growth.
- Develop and implement strategies to promote positive behavior, social skills, and emotional regulation in students with special needs.
- Collaborate with teachers and other support staff to create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment that meets the diverse needs of all students.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current on best practices in special education and to enhance your skills and knowledge.
Essential Qualifications:
- Active teaching license with a special education generalist (5-21) and/or special education specialist (5-21) endorsement(s).
- Substitute Authorization (or in the process of obtaining if license is expired).
- Three professional references, including one from a previous direct supervisor.
- Complete a background check for Scoot Education (reimbursed on your first paycheck) and the Colorado Department of Education (not reimbursed).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Education, or a related field.
- Experience working with students with diverse needs, including those with autism, mild/moderate/severe disabilities, and other special needs.
- Knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
