Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide instructional support to students with special needs, working closely with teachers to implement individualized lesson plans and activities.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs), and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs).
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing feedback to teachers and other support staff to inform instruction and drive student growth.
  • Develop and implement strategies to promote positive behavior, social skills, and emotional regulation in students with special needs.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other support staff to create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment that meets the diverse needs of all students.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current on best practices in special education and to enhance your skills and knowledge.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Active teaching license with a special education generalist (5-21) and/or special education specialist (5-21) endorsement(s).
  • Substitute Authorization (or in the process of obtaining if license is expired).
  • Three professional references, including one from a previous direct supervisor.
  • Complete a background check for Scoot Education (reimbursed on your first paycheck) and the Colorado Department of Education (not reimbursed).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Education, or a related field.
  • Experience working with students with diverse needs, including those with autism, mild/moderate/severe disabilities, and other special needs.
  • Knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
