Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Roadway Project Engineer to join our Indiana Transportation Team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and delivering transportation infrastructure projects for INDOT and Local Municipalities. Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop roadway projects for INDOT and Local Public Agency (LPA) clients, ensuring compliance with relevant standards, specifications, and regulations.
- Create and review project design calculations, quantities takeoffs, specifications, plans, and contract documents, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
- Work collaboratively with the Transportation Team to assign responsibilities, plan, schedule, and coordinate engineering work, and ensure timely project delivery.
- Attend project meetings, present specific aspects of engineering assignments, and conduct analysis to choose appropriate applications.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and mentoring to junior engineers in the development of plans, reports, and specifications, promoting knowledge sharing and skill development.
- Apply INDOT design manual and AAHTO principles to highway design, utilizing roadway design CADD software and knowledge of Road design software such as Open Roads.
- Participate in occasional site visits in construction sites and remote outdoor work environments, and travel to client meetings and site visits as required.
Requirements
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Professional Engineer's license in Indiana or the ability to obtain through reciprocity within 6 months.
- Strong team collaboration, oral and written communication, design expertise, and problem-solving skills are required.
- Experience with INDOT standards, specifications, and deliverables for Federally Funded Projects.
- Proficiency in CADD.
Preferred Qualifications
- 14+ years of experience in transportation engineering, with a focus on roadway design and project management.
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) License, reciprocity in multiple states.
- Experience with project management software, such as Primavera P6 or MS Project.
- Knowledge of sustainable design principles and practices.
