Job Summary

As a Data Scientist at Amazon, you will play a critical role in driving business growth through data-driven insights. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including scientists, software engineers, and business leaders, to define business processes and provide analytical support. Your primary responsibilities will include data analysis, modeling, and visualization, as well as developing and implementing data-driven solutions to drive business outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with scientists, software engineers, and business leaders to define business processes and provide analytical support
  • Influence code to investigate complex datasets and design, develop, and evaluate data transformations to solve specific business problems
  • Build flexible, efficient, and automated data pipelines to facilitate customer-facing reporting
  • Automate Talent Acquisition (TA) processes to streamline business operations
  • Communicate verbally or in writing to business clients/leadership to share insights and recommendations
  • Develop and maintain large-scale data systems, including data warehouses and data lakes
  • Analyze complex data sets to identify trends, patterns, and correlations
  • Design and implement data visualizations to communicate insights to stakeholders
  • Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and other analytics tools

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field, such as statistics, mathematics, data science, business analytics, economics, finance, engineering, or computer science
  • 3+ years of experience with data querying languages (e.g., SQL), scripting languages (e.g., Python), or statistical/mathematical programming (e.g., R, SAS, Matlab)
  • 3+ years of experience with machine learning/statistical modeling, data analysis tools and techniques, and frameworks that influence their performance
  • Experience applying theoretical models in an applied environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to collect, analyze, and interpret large data sets
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduate degree in a quantitative field, such as statistics, mathematics, data science, business analytics, economics, finance, engineering, or computer science
  • Experience in a machine learning or data scientist role with a large technology organization
  • Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms, such as Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Experience with data visualization tools, such as Tableau or Power BI
  • Knowledge of programming languages, such as Java or C++
