Job Summary
As an Elementary Teacher at KCKPS, you will play a vital role in facilitating student comprehension and application of concepts, skills, and behaviors that contribute to the development of mature, able, and responsible members of society. You will work in a hybrid environment, with the flexibility to work remotely and collaborate with colleagues in our office.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement 21st Century Skills into the curriculum to enhance student learning
- Assess student abilities and plan instruction/learning strategies to meet their needs
- Manage classroom behavior and participate in school-wide behavior management
- Communicate with students, parents, and colleagues to ensure student progress
- Maintain accurate records and reports, including assessment and evaluation documentation
- Participate in professional growth and development activities, including staff meetings and in-service training
- Ensure a safe, attractive, and conducive learning environment
- Participate in extra-curricular activities and IEP meetings for IDEA students
Essential Qualifications
To be considered for this role, you must:
- Meet the employment qualifications set forth by the Kansas City, Kansas Board of Education and the Kansas State Department of Education
- Hold a Kansas teaching certificate in your area of instructional responsibility
- Possess excellent knowledge of content, curriculum, methods, materials, and equipment relevant to your instructional specialty
- Demonstrate good knowledge of student growth and development applicable to your assigned grade level
- Exhibit strong oral and written communication skills
- Possess excellent human relations skills and the ability to establish effective relationships with students, parents, and peers
Preferred Qualifications
We prefer candidates with:
- English as a Second Language (ESL) endorsement or a commitment to obtaining this endorsement
- Experience working with diverse student populations and promoting inclusive practices
- Knowledge of current research and theory in education, particularly in areas related to instructional technology and 21st-century skills

Work Environment
Our work environment is dynamic and fast-paced, with a focus on student-centered learning. As an Elementary Teacher, you will work in a classroom setting, with occasional visits to students' homes. You will be required to lift and move up to 50 pounds, push items of 50 pounds, and occasionally work outdoors.
