Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a frontline fundraiser, working to engage alumni, parents, and friends to support Rose-Hulman's philanthropic needs.
  • Actively manage a portfolio of prospects, initiating and strengthening relationships through identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
  • Develop and execute donor-specific strategies in collaboration with other resources, tracking and reporting on activities and execution.
  • Meet regularly with deans, faculty, and administrators to gain understanding of major priorities and goals, supplying timely information on donor cultivation.
  • Serve as a liaison to a specific department, meeting with the Departmental Chair to gain knowledge of that area's goals and vision.
  • Stay knowledgeable on the Institute's needs, priorities, administrative vision, and general daily activities of the campus.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, communications, public relations, or a related field.
  • 4 to 5 years of professional experience, including 2 to 3 years of experience in fundraising or transferable skills.
  • Strong analytical and project/process management skills.
  • Proficiency with database, spreadsheet, word processing, and Internet software.
  • Proven track record of securing gifts at the major gift level.
  • Outstanding oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Effective listening skills and ability to interact/network with alumni, friends of the Institute, major gift prospects, and major donors.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a higher education environment.
  • Knowledge of market research techniques and ability to develop, analyze, and evaluate detailed fundraising programs.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents (i.e., technical journals, legal documents, governmental regulations).

To succeed in this role, you will need to possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with diverse stakeholders. Strong analytical and project management skills are also essential, as is the ability to work independently and as part of a team. You will need to be proactive, strategic, and creative in your approach to fundraising, with a deep understanding of the Institute's mission and goals.
