Job Goal and Essential Functions
As a PE Teacher at Noble Prentis Elementary, your primary objective will be to facilitate student comprehension and application of concepts, skills, and behaviors that contribute to the development of mature, able, and responsible members of society. Your role will be crucial in ensuring continuous improvement in state and national performance levels, preparing students for college and careers in a global society.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement 21st Century Skills into the curriculum, ensuring relevance and engagement for all students.
- Assess student abilities and plan instruction/learning strategies that cater to their needs and capabilities.
- Manage classroom behavior and participate in school-wide student behavior management.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and peers regarding instructional expectations, student progress, and other relevant matters.
- Maintain accurate assessment and evaluation documentation for institutional and individual reporting purposes.
- Participate in professional growth and development activities, including staff meetings, in-service, and staff development activities.
- Ensure a safe, attractive, and conducive learning environment in the classroom and/or instructional areas.
- Participate in extra-curricular activities as requested by the principal.
- Engage in IEP meetings for IDEA students as a regular teacher.
Qualifications and Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must meet the employment qualifications set forth by the Kansas City, Kansas Board of Education and the Kansas State Department of Education. Specifically:
- Hold a Kansas teaching certificate in the area of instructional responsibility.
- Possess an English as a Second Language endorsement or be committed to obtaining it.
- Demonstrate good knowledge of content, curriculum, methods, materials, and equipment related to physical education.
- Exhibit excellent human relations skills and the ability to establish effective relationships with students, parents, and peers.
- Possess the physical ability and dexterity to perform required work, including lifting and moving up to 50 pounds and working outdoors in various conditions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in teaching physical education or a related field.
- Knowledge of current research and theory in physical education.
- Ability to use technology effectively in the performance of duties.
