About the Department

The Department of Film and Theatre is a vibrant and inclusive community that offers three majors: Radio-Television-Film, Theatre Arts, and Dance. Our programs prepare students for careers in the arts, media, and entertainment industries, as well as in education, management, and critical writing. With a strong focus on hands-on learning, our students have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects, from short films and stage productions to radio broadcasts and live performances.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate courses in Radio-Television-Film (RTVF), including courses in the RTVF major and those offered under General Education
  • Demonstrate awareness of and address the needs of a diverse student population through inclusive course materials, teaching strategies, and advisement
  • Hold regular office hours and work cooperatively with staff, chair, and other faculty members
  • Participate in course assessment activities and contribute to the ongoing development of the RTVF program
  • Organize all classes within the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS) and ensure that courses meet as scheduled throughout the semester or term

Essential Qualifications

To be considered for this position, you must have:

  • A Master's degree (M.A., M.F.A., or Ph.D.) in Radio-Television-Film, or a related field, with significant professional experience
  • Strong teaching skills and competence or training in radio, television, and/or film studies, performance, or production
  • Awareness of and sensitivity to the educational goals of a multicultural population, gained through cross-cultural study, training, teaching, or other comparable experience

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications are highly desirable:

  • Experience teaching diverse student populations and developing inclusive curricula
  • Knowledge of current trends and technologies in radio, television, and film production, as well as in media studies and criticism
  • Ability to teach a range of courses, including those in the RTVF major and General Education
  • Experience with Canvas LMS and other educational technologies

Compensation and Benefits

Compensation for this position is competitive, with a salary range of $4530 - $8250 per month, depending on qualifications and experience. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
