About the Role

As a Social Studies Teacher at Beaumont Independent School District, you'll play a vital role in shaping the minds of our students. You'll be responsible for developing and implementing engaging lesson plans, assessing student progress, and creating a supportive learning environment that caters to diverse learning styles. Key Responsibilities

  • Instructional Strategies:
    • Develop and implement lesson plans that meet district curriculum requirements and cater to different learning styles.
    • Use a range of instructional and learning strategies, activities, and materials to engage students.
    • Assess student learning styles and adjust instruction accordingly.
    • Collaborate with special education teachers to modify curricula for special education students.
  • Student Growth and Development:
    • Help students analyze and improve their study methods and habits.
    • Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
    • Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities and sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal.
  • Classroom Management and Organization:
    • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and suitable for students' physical, social, and emotional development.
    • Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
    • Take necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Communication:
    • Establish and maintain open lines of communication with parents, students, principals, and teachers.
    • Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
    • Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
  • Professional Growth and Development:
    • Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
    • Demonstrate interest and initiative in professional improvement.
    • Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible.

Essential Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you'll need:

  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college.
  • A valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or training for the subject/level assigned.
  • Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned.
  • Fluency in a foreign language for LOTE teachers.
  • Current automated external defibrillator (AED) certificate for Physical Education Teachers.

Preferred Qualifications

While not essential, the following qualifications are highly desirable:

  • At least one year of student teaching or approved internship.
  • Knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
  • Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
