About the Role

As a Virtual Patient Observation Attendant, you'll play a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our patients through the use of cutting-edge technology. Working under the close supervision and direction of registered nurses, you'll provide virtual observation and monitoring of multiple patients at a time, utilizing our designated IT platform.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reports on/off duty to the registered nurses assigned to care for patients, ensuring a seamless transition of care.
  • Receives specific observation guidelines from the registered nurse for each patient/shift/assignment, adhering to our high standards of patient care.
  • Ensures a safe environment for patients under the direction of a registered nurse, proactively identifying potential risks and concerns.
  • Remains in visual contact with patients AT ALL TIMES via our designated IT technology platform, as directed by the registered nurse.
  • Identifies self to patients and/or family members or significant others, providing a personal touch in a virtual setting.
  • Provides virtual continual observation and monitoring of multiple patients at a time using our SLUHN designated IT platform, leveraging technology to enhance patient care.
  • Reports behavior changes and patient requests to the patient's assigned nurses, facilitating timely interventions and care adjustments.

Requirements and Qualifications

Physical and Sensory Requirements

  • Sit up to 8 hours per day, with the ability to stand for up to 8 hours per day as needed.
  • Occasionally lift, carry, and push objects up to 10 pounds, demonstrating physical stamina for the demands of the role.
  • Must be able to hear as it relates to normal conversation and high/low frequencies, ensuring effective communication with patients and healthcare teams.
  • Must be able to see as it relates to general, near, far, color, and peripheral vision, facilitating accurate observation and monitoring of patients.

Education and Training

  • High school graduate or equivalent required, providing a foundation for further training and development.
  • Must complete mandatory education and competencies required for the position, ensuring you're equipped to excel in your role.
