Job Overview

We are seeking experienced and skilled Catastrophe Property Adjusters to join our team in multiple remote locations across the United States. As a Catastrophe Property Adjuster, you will play a critical role in handling all types of catastrophe property claims, assisting assigned field offices with day-to-day property claims, and providing exceptional service to our policyholders. This is a work-from-home position that requires frequent travel to various locations within our operating footprint, which includes PA, NY, MD/DC, NC, VA, WV, TN, WI, IL, IN, OH, and KY.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish immediate contact with policyholders regarding their loss and drive to the site of damage within the assigned territory or other locations as required
  • Set and manage adequate reserves within designated authority and properly identify and assess damage
  • Determine liability and total value of claim, prepare a proper estimate relating to the identified damages, and obtain an agreed scope of work and cost of repair with contractors and/or policyholders
  • Properly document claim files with all activities and submit final reports to files for closure
  • Determine or decline payment and issue checks as required, negotiate claims with plaintiff attorneys when necessary, and assign and supervise the handling of property losses by independent adjusters when necessary
  • Attend industry-related training programs to stay current on legal developments and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations impacting the operation of the department
  • Assist assigned field offices as necessary when not on catastrophe duty and bring assigned property claims to conclusion
  • Provide monthly operational maintenance of the Sprinter Van attached to the office where the CAT adjuster is domiciled

Essential Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Five years of claims handling experience, or equivalent, including two years of property claims handling experience, required
  • Strong technical knowledge of structural damage repair and valuation techniques or equivalent required
  • Successful completion of Associate in Claims (AIC) program preferred
  • Proficiency with estimating software (preferably Symbility) or equivalent, preferred
  • Appropriate license as required by state
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record required
