About the Information Ventures Team
Our team creates reusable technologies to assist with customer acquisition, onboarding, and enabling sellers, while ensuring a seamless experience for both partners. We also enhance duties and diversity in accordance with Walmart's Everyday Low Cost theory. We create affordability, but we also deliver customized experiences for customers across all channels - online, mobile app, and websites. Our team is responsible for providing support to US Marketplace sellers, focusing on giving quick solutions to the cases/tickets made by sellers, and collaborating with numerous teams across the organization to deliver an exceptional seller experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Transformation and Integration: Concentrates data from identified databases, creates data pipelines, and transforms data into a structure relevant to the problem by selecting appropriate methodologies. Develops data on current analysis trends.
- Data Source Identification: Supports the understanding of the need order of requirements and service level agreements. Identifies the most suitable source for data that is good for purpose. Performs initial data quality checks on extracted data.
- Data Modeling: Investigates complex data elements, systems, data streams, conditions, and relationships to contribute to conceptual, physical, and logical data models. Develops the Logical Data Model and Physical Data Models, including data warehouse and data store designs. Defines social tables, primary and foreign keys, and stored procedures to create a data model architecture. Assesses existing data models and physical databases for deviations and inconsistencies. Creates efficient data flows. Investigates data-related system integration challenges and proposes suitable solutions.
- Code Development and Testing: Writes code to develop the necessary solution and application features by determining the appropriate programming language and using business, technical, and data requirements. Creates experiments to review and validate the proposed solution design. Creates proofs of concept. Tests the code using the appropriate testing approach. Deploys software to production servers. Contributes code documentation, maintains a playbook, and provides timely development updates.
- Applied Business Acumen: Provides recommendations to business partners to address complex business issues. Creates business cases for projects with an expected return on investment or cost savings. Translates business requirements into tasks, activities, and tasks and aligns to overall business process. Acts as the need arises with substantial solutions and results. Suggests new processes and approaches to working.
- Data Governance: Outlines, aligns, and reports data governance operations and recommendations. Implements data governance practices in collaboration with business partners and peers. Interprets organizational and regulatory policies on data. Instructs others on data governance processes, practices, policies, and rules. Provides recommendations on required updates or contributions to data governance policies, practices, or rules.
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
- At least 2 years of experience in programming or a related field.
- Knowledgeable with Hadoop, Spark, Cloud, Python/PySpark, and Java, Streaming, Kafka, Backend.
- Proven history of coding with at least one programming language (e.g., Scala, Python).
- Familiarity with one of the cloud computing platforms (e.g., GCP, Azure).
- Skilled in data modeling and data migration protocols.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with GCP, Data warehousing, BI is preferred.
- Experience with integration tools like Automic, Windstream.
- Experience in building highly scalable Big Data solutions and ETL ecosystems.
- Knowledge of Data bricks is an additional benefit.
- Hands-on experience with NoSQL like Cosmos DB alongside RDBMS like MySQL, Postgres is a plus.
- Hands-on working experience with any messaging platform like Kafka is preferred.
