Job Summary
As a Cloud Support Engineer, you will be responsible for providing technical support to Amazon's customers and internal teams. You will troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, drive initiatives to improve support-related processes, and provide feedback to internal AWS teams on how to improve services. You will also have the opportunity to learn groundbreaking technologies, develop new technical skills, and work on critical and complex customer problems that span multiple AWS services.
Key Responsibilities
- Solve customer cases through various contact channels (phone, email, and web/live chat) using advanced troubleshooting techniques to provide tailored solutions.
- Drive initiatives to improve support-related processes and customer experience, including creating tutorials, how-to videos, technical articles, and trainings.
- Provide feedback to internal AWS teams on how to improve services and work on critical and complex customer problems that span multiple AWS services.
- Continuously learn new technologies and develop new technical skills and professional abilities.
- Act as an interviewer in hiring processes and coach/mentor new team members.
Requirements and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong and diverse skill set in relevant areas, including:
- 1+ years of software development or 1+ years of technical support experience.
- Experience troubleshooting and debugging technical systems.
- Minimum of 1+ years of related professional experience and a bachelor's degree in Engineering/Computer Science/Mathematics or a related field or equivalent military experience.
- Knowledge or experience with machine management, and troubleshooting any operating system (Linux and/or Windows) and networking (HTTP/s, TCP/IP, DNS, OSI model, routing, switching, firewalls, LAN/WAN, traceroute, iperf, dig, CURL or related).
- Knowledge or experience with database engines: MySQL/Oracle/PostgreSQL/MariaDB/Square Server/Amazon Aurora.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English (written and spoken) within technical and business settings.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge or experience with performance tuning and monitoring/alarming for production database environments.
- Experience with database migrations.
- Knowledge of cloud computing concepts and/or experience with any cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
- Experience scripting or developing in one or more of the following languages: UNIX Shell, Python, R, Ruby, Go, Java, .Net (C#), JavaScript.
- Knowledge of security concepts/best practices in securing application architectures from external threats.
