Job Summary
As an Embedded Software Engineering Manager, you will lead a team of top-notch engineers responsible for developing firmware for Apple's current and future embedded devices, including iPhones, iPads, AirPods, Apple TV, and more. Your team will be responsible for all aspects of the product development and test cycle, from raising new SoCs, chipsets, sensors, and devices to creating, exploring, and organizing new device drivers, displays, and other firmware code. You will be a key player in shaping the future of Apple's embedded systems and will have a significant impact on the company's success.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a team of at least 5 software engineers, managing multiple projects and ensuring successful delivery of firmware development for Apple's embedded devices.
- Develop, explore, and organize new device drivers, displays, and other firmware code across Apple's embedded product lines.
- Collaborate with Hardware, Software, Test, and other engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of firmware with Apple's products.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in firmware development and identify opportunities for innovation and improvement.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members, helping them grow professionally and achieve their goals.
- Manage relationships with suppliers and vendors to ensure successful firmware development and deployment.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including engineering teams, product managers, and executives, to ensure alignment and successful project execution.
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience in embedded software development, with a strong background in C/C++ programming.
- Experience with Unix, Linux, or Mac OS X operating systems.
- Strong knowledge of standard hardware interfaces (USB, UART, SPI, I2C, PCIe, MIPI, HDMI, DDR).
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex issues and develop creative solutions.
- Strong leadership and management skills, with experience leading teams of engineers.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
