Job Overview and Responsibilities

As a Commercial Auto Casualty Examiner, you will play a critical role in our claims handling process, ensuring that all assigned claims are thoroughly investigated and resolved in a timely and efficient manner. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Promptly investigating all assigned claims for coverage, liability assessment, damages evaluation, and subrogation/contribution, ensuring timely disposition of all claims in accordance with regulatory and statutory requirements.
  • Establishing and executing appropriate action plans for claim resolution, including loss cost management, to achieve optimal outcomes for our customers and the company.
  • Collaborating with internal and external business partners, such as claims adjusters, investigators, and legal counsel, to investigate and reach appropriate disposition of all claims.
  • Maintaining a strong working knowledge of regulatory and jurisdictional requirements, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
  • Demonstrating technical proficiency through timely, consistent execution of best claim practices and established claims handling guidelines, ensuring high-quality service to our customers.
  • Communicating effectively with internal and external customers, including policyholders, claimants, and other stakeholders, on claims and account issues, providing timely and accurate updates and resolutions.
  • Effectively managing the litigation process and defense counsel to ensure timely and cost-effective outcomes, minimizing losses and protecting the company's interests.
  • Preparing and submitting claim status and excess reports to clients and their excess carriers, ensuring transparency and accountability in the claims handling process.

Requirements and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications:

  • 2+ years of progressively responsible experience handling commercial automobiles and casualty claims, with a strong understanding of coverage, negligence principles, investigation, and negotiation techniques.
  • FL or TX claims licenses preferred, with the ability to obtain and maintain state adjusting licenses as needed, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Familiarity with claims handling software and technology, with the ability to quickly adapt to new systems and processes.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to work independently, handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and exercise good judgment in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers, including policyholders, claimants, and other stakeholders.
  • Excellent customer service skills, with a strong focus on providing high-quality service and ensuring customer satisfaction.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Advanced degree in a related field, such as law, business, or insurance.
  • Professional certifications, such as CPCU, AIC, or ARM, demonstrating expertise and commitment to the field.
  • Experience working in a remote or virtual environment, with the ability to self-motivate and work independently with minimal supervision.
