About the Role
As a Remote Network Support Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our network systems, providing top-notch support to our internal stakeholders, and collaborating with our service providers to resolve network issues promptly. Your expertise will be invaluable in maintaining our network infrastructure, troubleshooting problems, and implementing best practices to drive network efficiency and reliability.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and maintain our organization's network systems, including hardware, software, and power components.
 - Test and analyze network facilities, track performance and status, and assist in identifying and resolving network failures.
 - Coordinate the details of a network outage, including occasional emergency replacement of inoperable hardware to minimize the impact on the business.
 - Collaborate with service providers to restore service and work with internal stakeholders to ensure seamless communication and issue resolution.
 - Operate the incident line, including opening, prioritizing, investigating, following up, notifying, escalating, communicating, and documenting incidents, and engaging additional resources as needed for incident resolution.
 - Answer and respond to Network Support hotline calls to assist end-users and minimize business disruption.
 - Answer Network Support email requests and demands.
 - Perform proactive daily task lists and delegate assigned tasks in Smartsheet.
 - Lead and participate in weekly team meetings.
 - Open and monitor Cisco TAC cases on faulty Cisco equipment and see them through to resolution.
 - Review and administer corporate office data storage rooms.
 
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- At least 1 year of experience in a help-related field or 1 year of network experience with network training.
 - Basic understanding of Ethernet, Fiber, Edge Transfer, AVPN, ISDN, Dedicated IP, and Routing protocols.
 - Basic knowledge of network hardware and software, including routers, switches, and wireless controllers.
 - Basic understanding of subnetting, VLANs, and network topology.
 - Excellent written and verbal communication skills, phone etiquette, and customer service skills.
 - Advanced skills in troubleshooting and analysis with incidents and issues.
 - Experience or understanding of ITIL/Trucks incident, problem, change, knowledge, and request processes.
 - Demonstrated strong work ethic and positive, mature, professional attitude.
 - Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
 - Process-oriented, understands the benefits of processes, and the need for compliance.
 - Ability to explain or convey technical terms to non-technical audiences.
 - Effectively seeks, suggests, or implements improvements for team processes and techniques.
 - Ability to work well under pressure and within time constraints.
 - Creative, innovative, and highly responsive with a strong desire to keep learning.
 - Team player who works collaboratively with others, sharing ideas, collaborating, and ultimately putting team goals first.
 - Demonstrated strong organizational skills to meet tight deadlines.
 - A strong understanding of Google Suite.
 - Occasional travel may be required.
 - Willing to work off-hours shifts as required, including weekends, holidays, and 24/7 on-call responsibilities on a rotational basis.
 
Preferred Qualifications
While not essential, the following qualifications are desirable:
- At least 1 year of Costco warehouse/warehouse operations experience.
 - Good understanding of Costco business warehouse and stop equipment.
 - Basic knowledge of network monitoring tools to aid in issue identification and resolution.
 - Studying for or having CCNA certification.
 - Networking degree.
 - ITIL Foundation Certification.
 - Knowledge of scripting languages (Python, Google Apps Script, etc.).
