Job Highlights and Responsibilities

As an EAP Counselor 2, you will play a critical role in delivering exceptional wellness experiences and support to our members. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Handling inbound assess and referral calls, as well as outbound calls that require expertise and knowledge of general mental health, risk assessment, and substance misuse assessment
  • Assessing and developing effective short-term interventions for high-risk situations, including suicidality, severe substance abuse, and psychiatric decompensation
  • Providing grief counseling, workplace problems, and management consultation to support our members' overall well-being
  • Understanding department, segment, and organizational strategy and operating objectives, including their linkages to related areas
  • Making decisions regarding own work methods, occasionally in ambiguous situations, and requiring minimal direction and receiving guidance where needed
  • Working on a multi-function phone line and utilizing clinical assessment and live data entry skills

Essential Qualifications and Skills

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Master's level degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or other applicable field
  • Applicable State licensure in field of study, licensed for independent clinical practice (LPC, LCSW, etc.)
  • 5-10 years or more of work experience in an applicable field, with a strong background in clinical assessment and live data entry
  • Excellent verbal, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to talk and type at the same time for live entry
  • Proficient knowledge of MS Word, Mail Merge, and Excel, as well as multi-function phone skills

Preferred Qualifications and Certifications

While not required, the following qualifications and certifications are preferred:

  • Certified Employee Assistance Professional (CEAP) certification
  • Experience providing EAP services and support telephonically
  • Knowledge of community health and social service agencies and additional community resources
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills, with the ability to speak, read, write, interpret, and explain documents in Spanish

Work at Home Requirements

This is a work-from-home position, and you will need to have:

  • A dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information
  • A high-speed DSL or cable modem for a home office (Satellite and Wireless Internet service is NOT allowed for this role)
  • A minimum standard speed for optimal performance of 10x1 (10mbs download x 1mbs upload)
