Disney AdSales (DAS) is at the forefront of advertising sales and integrated marketing for The Walt Disney Company's vast entertainment and sports offerings. As part of the Disney AdSales team, you'll be working with a diverse portfolio that includes ABC, ABC News, Disney Channels Worldwide, Disney Digital, ESPN Networks, ESPN+, Freeform, FX, National Geographic, Hulu, and eight ABC-owned local stations.

About the Corporate Communications & Strategy Team

The Corporate Communications & Strategy team is the driving force behind DAS's communications strategy, operations, and business development. This team collaborates closely with sales, content, and digital leaders, as well as communications and business teams across the Disney portfolio, to drive growth and lead generation across all screens. As a Director, Corporate Communications, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the narrative around Disney AdSales' innovative solutions and data-driven precision.

The Role: Director, Corporate Communications

We're seeking a seasoned Director, Corporate Communications with a deep understanding of AdTech and streaming TV, including experience in addressable advertising and marketing solutions. As a strategic storyteller and communications expert, you will position Disney AdSales as a leader in the marketplace, elevating its streaming, entertainment, and sports branded solutions through media relations, thought leadership initiatives, award submissions, internal communications, and more.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Simplify, synthesize, and communicate complex data, insights, initiatives, and programs to the marketplace, driving business results through effective storytelling.
  • Stay ahead of marketplace trends in the streaming, entertainment, and sports space, developing proactive story ideas that showcase DAS's innovative solutions.
  • Lead brainstorming sessions and develop holistic communications strategies that drive business growth and thought leadership.
  • Manage multiple projects with tight deadlines, demonstrating exceptional project management skills and attention to detail.
  • Communicate effectively with a range of executives and cross-divisional department teams, building strong relationships and trust.
  • Perform at a high level, even in the face of unexpected change, and demonstrate creative problem-solving skills in dealing with ambiguity or difficult challenges.
  • Work with data to create solutions, leveraging insights to inform communications strategies and drive business results.
  • Travel based on business needs, staying connected with key stakeholders and industry leaders.

Essential Qualifications & Skills:

  • 11+ years of experience in corporate communications, PR, journalism, or a related field, preferably in the streaming TV and digital media space.
  • Deep understanding of entertainment and sports industries, with a strong knowledge of AdTech and streaming TV.
  • Experience leading teams and managing multiple projects simultaneously, with a proven track record of success.
  • Creativity, diplomacy, and ability to juggle a heavy volume of diverse projects, including both strategic and tactical assignments.
  • Strong verbal and writing skills, with demonstrated ability to effectively and rapidly deliver information in a complex, multi-business global company.
  • Ability to oversee development and distribution of press materials, key messages, Q&A documents, and other communications assets.
  • Strong relationships with journalists, online influencers, and key internal stakeholders, with a proven ability to build and maintain these relationships.
  • Ability to respond to media inquiries and act as company spokesperson as required, demonstrating confidence and poise.
  • Regular communication with senior management, providing media and issues updates and insights.

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Advertising, Communications, or a related field.

Our compensation package includes a competitive salary, bonus, and/or long-term incentive units, as well as a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits.

The hiring range for this position in New York is $191,400 to $256,700 per year and in Santa Monica, CA is $182,700 to $245,000 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
