The Digital Technology team at United Airlines is a diverse group of individuals working together to build cutting-edge technology solutions that drive the airline's success. As a Director - DT, Vendor Management and PMO, you'll play a critical role in leading a centralized team that manages multiple fields, including Vendor Management, Portfolio Project Management, and Reporting & Analytics.
About the Role
This is a senior leadership role that reports to the Managing Director of DT PMO Delivery Services. As a Director - DT, Vendor Management and PMO, you'll be responsible for leading a team of professionals who are responsible for managing strategic technology supplier relationships, coordinating cross-functional activities, and driving process excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Vendor Management: Supervise strategic technology supplier relationships to ensure suppliers are mitigating risks and meeting United standards for operational resiliency and reliability.
- Process Improvement: Continuously explore ways to enhance existing and prospective relationships through supplier evaluation and process improvement.
- Project Management Office (PMO): Effectively implement PMO standard methodologies to maintain better cross-functionality for successful project execution and delivery.
- Reporting and Analytics: Lead teams to design and implement insight-generating analytics and reporting to support leaders and strategic programs.
- Strategic Support: Provide strategic support and advise to leadership on overall planning, prioritization, execution, and delivery of projects within the cybersecurity portfolio.
- Team Leadership: Coach/mentor a team of Sr. Managers, Project Managers, Process Architects, and Analysts to achieve and improve results.
Responsibilities in Detail
- Establish and continuously improve supplier management processes partnering with DT application owners, infrastructure, procurement, legal, finance, cybersecurity, and others to run all aspects of the supplier process.
- Deliver critical supplier management functions, including contract reviews, establishing a regular cadence of supplier business reviews, and establishing vendor scorecards and vendor accountability measures.
- Serve as an issue point and liaison between the supplier and application owners and infrastructure for key projects or issues.
- Stay ahead of industry trends to innovate and identify new opportunities.
- Actively seek ways to improve project tools and processes by enhancing user experience and providing strategic reports/KPIs.
- Collaborate with internal customers in DT and business to support, maintain, and drive continuous improvement.
- Lead initiatives to identify inefficiencies in current processes and develop strategies to enhance them.
- Conduct financial analyses to assess the cost-effectiveness of existing processes and proposed improvements.
- Design and develop customized dashboards, reports, and data visualization solutions to effectively communicate financial insights to team members and leaders.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you'll need:
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Business Administration.
- 10+ years of work experience in large and sophisticated corporate IT environments or equivalent consulting experience.
- Understanding of performance management, business consulting, project management, and applicable technology.
- Experience working within a multi-disciplined, cross-functional technical organization with matrix reporting relationships.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft products, specifically Excel and PowerPoint.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship.
Nice-to-Haves
While not required, the following skills and experience would be a plus:
- A Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Business Administration, or MBA.
- Knowledge of the business area's products and processes; experience in the strategic use of technology in leading and growing a business.
- Technical knowledge and ability to express complex technical concepts in terms that are understandable to the business.
- Experience in the travel industry, especially airline-related.
- Experience in establishing ITIL services/service catalog.
- PMP Certification.
